A surgical assistant is a qualified medical practitioner who works alongside the primary surgeon in the operating theatre, providing hands-on surgical support.
My role includes assisting with exposure, haemostasis, tissue handling, suturing, and other technical tasks, while contributing to patient safety, efficiency, and teamwork.
Surgical assistants do not lead the procedure, but apply clinical knowledge and surgical skill to support the surgeon and the broader theatre team. They are an important part of delivering high-quality, patient-centred surgical care.

In most cases, your surgeon will organise my involvement in your surgery. My office will contact you approximately 5-7 days before surgery to provide you with a clear quote and prepayment information ahead of your procedure.
Please note: Out-of-pocket fees are due prior to your scheduled operation, unless alternative arrangements have been made.
Payments can be made via the “Patients: Pay Online” tab on our website, or by following the payment instructions included at the bottom of your quote for alternative payment methods.

You can reach us anytime via our contact page or email. We aim to respond as quickly as possible, usually within one business day.

After you’ve spoken with your surgeon, we’ll provide a clear quote so you know what to expect, with no hidden fees.
When eligible, we claim the Medicare and private health insurance rebates on your behalf. These rebates cover the Medicare schedule fee and your health fund’s contribution.
Any remaining out-of-pocket cost (the gap) is your responsibility. This is payable before your scheduled operation, unless alternative arrangements have been confirmed in advance.
If you do not have adequate private health insurance cover, you will be responsible for the full surgical assistant fee.
